dear all,
I m working in a manufacturing company from past 4 months. i have total work experience of 1yrs. before this company i was in a software firm.
at the time of interview in this company my manager said that i have to handle 80% of HR job and 20% of secraterial job with my VP(Personnel)
i agreed but now i m facing the problem because i have to handle 60-70% of secraterial job and rest of personnel job.
as i analyzed in this company that HR is totally not implemented till date, only personnel and admin department is existing here and the management is now thinking to implement HR over here. but it will take 2-3years from now.
ironically the company is of 1000crore turnover company.
so seniors can you help me out that in this situation what i have to do so that i can get a good career path.
whenever i want to implement any good thing in HR, my manager stops me. this also demotivates me a lot.
please help me out
Thanks & regards,

Hi
The same way my HOD is doing. when ever i come with a new idea to implement HR Policies he stops me. Initially i was also frustreted but now i am directly suggesting to the management. ya i know i am not going through the proper channel but in the interest of the company and mine i am doing it. and it worked.
Your manager wont change his nature so better we change our way of working. work tactfully you would able to handle him. and do not look for job change as you have recently join, it will spoil your resume.

Dear Nipuna,
You are only 4 months old in your company. You have mentioned that you are into sec job of VP-Personnel. Please be patient. In your current assignment you can learn the communications, acts,Rules & Regulations,IR etc.,Please observe and try to learn the functions of Personnel dept. This would definitely give an edge over other HRs during long run. Do not get demotivated.
First you win the confidence of the management with your performance. Also, parallely work on HR policies,Systems & Procedure. You need not share this with your immediate boss.Definitely a right time will come soon.
Strike hard at that time. wish you all the best.

Hi Nipuna
I agree with Balah.Nice post Balah.
Decide a timeframe for yourself(for eg 2 months) after which if you find that you cant make a difference being an Hr of the company or the company management is too rigis to accomodate your suggestions then you can go ahead and look for a change but do not give up without trying
All the best

Hi nipuna,
Job Dissatisfaction is the common problem with most of the employees. And, one of the best ways to get rid of this... keep yourself busy learning the system, policies, procedures, rules & regulations. This would enhance your knowledge and build your confidence. This would help you in preparing for interviews in future.
This happened to me too though bit different. Its a pain when you work in govt. organizations, you dont have much to do. It is all programmed work. I engaged myself in learning about other department works.. It kept me busy but never quenched my thirst...
Anyways, I wish you start your new year with more renewed energy and throw away dissatisfaction/ demotivation. Happy New Year and Good Luck dear :)

dear Nipun,
I too had faced such situation when i was told to handled sales activity too along with HR. I was totally collapsed but i had took that as a challenge and now having exposure of both HR and Marketing.
The thing is that we always want to have things of our interest in our basket but sometimes life gives us some other experience which would definately help in some or the other way in present or future.
So, don't give up take it as a challege and prove your capabilities.
Have a great year ahead.
Good Luck

hi Sandhya
There are n no. of things which you can do like
Analyse the prevailing system, if there is any gap then you have to take initiative for its betterment.
Develop some systems (if there is any need) like grievance, reward management etc
u can also start employee engagement activities.
Do all those activities which inturns benefit u as an individual as well as to the organisation in developing and making better system.

Hi,
Normally, in such scenario you have to handle very gently.
Look you are into manufacturing setup. There may several politics will be there. Every one move their coins gently. Study your organization chart.
If you are reporting to your GM or Manager, then we can handle the problem in a nice way, where we can achieve our goal.
Wait for the time, One day your manager will call you and ask for any HR related issues. In the particular time, you have to act smartly and gently to implement the HR policies.
When the one day occur? Do only secretary job. Don't get into any HR related issues. Whenever the other superiors or your colleagues asked for HR related issues tell them that you are busy with secretary job. It will reach the top management soon. Then the one day falls.
ALWAYS KEEP THE FACTS ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND EMPLOYEES IN FINGURE TIPS. THEN ONLY YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR TARGET EASILY.
