hi rajesh,
This is a wonderful opportunity for you to market yourself before your new boss. First and formost is to identify the
a.objectives of HR department.
b. HR procedures and strategies
c. Understanding HR functions interms of recruitment, selection, placement, Training & development, Employee relations, Perfromance Managemnet System, Payroll function etc.
d. For each function, you can show the data, (if you have past database for a time period), you can derive employee statistics, attrition rate, reasons for attrition, etc..
similarly for training, the number of training interventions, attendance in training etc..
You can present your views about Employee retention strategies etc
If you are planning new HR initiatives, you can present that also and have a discussion with your boss. He should feel that you are a proactive HR executive.
best wishes!!!!
