Hi all, I am in the preparation of a training module for the freshers or final year students of BE/B-tech or any other engineering who want to get a job in the manufacturing industry. I need some input from HR officials
1. What quality they look at or search for in the freshers?
2. What kind of knowledge they expect from freshers?
3. Which subject or topics you suggest to train them for getting a job?
4. Which specific skill they will prefer to have in freshers?
Detailed answers will help me to help these freshers who sicking the jobs.

Dear Mr Rajesh Sahasrabuddhe,

Good to note that you are doing market research before developing a product. The salability of the product increases if is developed to match the market needs.

Taking the market feedback apart, what is your personal assessment of the college students? Have you met them and how many times did you meet them? Were the college students the same or different? If you had given some feedback on the inclusion of the topics based on your own assessment, it would have helped us to build it further.

Anyway, technical skills are the most important. This is because a large number of students just forget what they were taught in the first 1-2 years of their engineering course. Many times, it is observed that the students are still grappling with the fundamentals or basic definitions of the subject.

Having knowledge is one thing and the ability to present it is another. Therefore, the most important thing is communication skills. Written and verbal communication skills, both are important. But then far from the writing test, please check whether they are able to read properly the English newspaper!

Lastly, the students need to know their own shortcoming also. The problem with the Indians is that they are blissfully unaware of their shortcomings. Therefore, rather than living with those shortcomings, how they need to work to overcome those shortcomings is important. If they learn this at early stage of their life, then only they will succeed in their life.

Thanks,

Dear Mr. Dinesh,
Thanks for your views and suggestions.
I have visited 10 engineering colleges around Pune. Students are more or less same. I have given 6 to 7 lectures to these students about the employ-ability enhancement. And I am working with so many manufacturing industries. As you rightly said the important skills like technical skill or communication skill is not visible in the students. Technical skill is highly missing.
Some of students are even don't know how to prepare resume.
But the expectations( not ambitions) of students are very high.
This only triggered me to create a course for these students to make them industry ready.
If you give me required skills in % format then i can design course more useful.
Thanks once again,
Rajesh Sahasrabuddhe
