Dear All,
I am asked to prepare an orientation programme for the new recriuts. I was told that the ppt should be awesome to attract the new employee and give a overall view of the Company. The employee should be able to see that there are good prospects for him in the company.
Can anyone help me on this.
Thanks,
Jayashree

Hi John, I have seen the induction-HR ppt. It talks about rules and leave policies which may not be a motivating factor for a new recruit is my apprehension. Thanks, Jayashree

Hi Jayshree...

To make it more interesting, You can pick up something like........

1) Include good Pics and Sound Clips in Presentation

2) Go for some Video clips which include company's premise, key people's speech, Mission and vision in Top Management's own voice..

3) You can also circulate orientation book during session.....You can include puzzles, cross words about companies.......This would motivate new joinees to be attantive as they have to solve them....

The above mentioned things have to be designed....and it takes some time......For orinentation, Just keep in mind one thing that even new joinees are also keen to know about company they have joined...but it is also depend upon how you are representing your company.......Session should be very lively...Keep telling some practical jokes, achievements of company or key people etc.......Dont just give stress on company's information.....They are much more interested in knowing what company is going to provide them.....Their career path....Show it in different way!...by using stories or jokes!.............You are the only person who can make difference...and you have training aids...Utilise them properly!

Hope this would be helpful to you...

All the best

Jaysree:
forget about the PPT's you can just make it and put it on screeen
but to attract the new joinees, prepare a plan in a such a way that they feel confortable with it
have 2-3 sessions on Games and get to gethers in a day
Offer them Lunch/Snacks, T-shirts etc and make the program alive.... see this is the day with which one will have the expectations about the company and they give their verdicts as well, so do remember that whatever you are going to do just do it with zeal and believe in yourself
hope this works
Thank

Hi Jayashree,

Orientation for new recruits means that you bring about a change in the mind of the recruit to blend positively with the objectives and goals of the Company. While this is the broad purpose, one key point you must remember in making orientation programmes is the way you relate to the recruits at an individual level. Here are some of them:

You must go through their CVs thoroughly to note their personal interests, hobbies and ambition etc mentioned in the CV. These are very important as they give a clue to their future plans.

While you present a bright picture of the Company Profile, you must fit it in these factors indicating that each of them has a scope for good career development as well as self development.

You could include points like how company could facilitate upgradation of their qualifications, training opportunities provided etc.

As a new recruit, each one would be aspiring to rise high in the Company and your presentation should give them assurance that its just not hi-fi goals of the company but the personal development of each individual employee is also important for the Company.

Your own talks shld include remarks appreciating some talents or skills of the employees like swimming, sports etc which would bring them recognition among others. They would love you for your close observation and also feel cosy.

Finally after your good presentation, you must ensure that the department they are posted in has a well defined role and the department head is of a positive outlook. You must prepare the department heads also to welcome the recruits with a positive outlook.

Wish you all the best in your effort.

Hi Jayshree,

Attracting the new joinees will work only for a limited time. A better idea would be to make an impact on them.
If you can clearly depict the vision of the organization, they could feel part of something big which is always a motivating factor.
If this can be done in a manner that Chaitali suggested, i.e including audio-video clips from top ppl in the org, there will be more personalization of the vision, plus, they will get to know the top management.
Chaitali and Mirza have made many imp points. I can only suggest making them interesting, things like add examples of relevant career paths of some real ppl in the org to showing them the opportunities that the organization offers, bits of info like nicknames, how you celebrated somebody's birthday, etc can be dropped here and there to make them feel more comfortable and welcome.
Good Luck!
