The leaves admissible to the employees of shops and commercial establishments in karnataka should be as per the karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act. Accordingly, every employee is entitled to annual leave with wages of one day for every twenty days worked in the preceding year. This leave is commonly referred to as privileged leave (PL) or Earned leave (EL) and an employee is entitled to accumulate unavailed leave up to 40 days. The Act also provided for encashment of unavailed earned leaves.
In addition to this leave on medical grounds or sick leave shall also be given at the rate of one day for every 30 days worked in the preceding year.
You can have any other leave of any number in addition to the above leaves which are mandatory while framing your leave policies.
