Hi Jyoti,
I am Tanvini working with a consultancy firm Ma Foi. Offcourse it is easier to move to corporate from a consultancy. I have seen many colleagues of mine moved to corporates. Initially its always good to start with recruitment & as a fresher to learn recuitment there is no better place than a consultancy. So learn as much as you can, practice it, be an expert & then move to corporate.

Hi Jyoti,
First decide your interest area, if interested in recruitment you can start with consultancy and then can move to corporte but generaly then there also recruitment profile is given to start.
but if you want a career in as generalist you can still look for some other good opportunity as a trainee in corporate.

Hi Jyoti,
It is easier to move to a corporate from a recruitment consultancy if you are looking to continue in the field of recruitment because your work experience is relevant (good or bad is not the issue here).
To move to a generalist role or any other role except recruitment from a recruitment consultancy is more difficult since the profile is different and calls for additional skills and knowledge. The relevant experience is too little, unless things like competency mapping or salary administration or MIS was a part of a profile. So have you decided which part of HR you would like to make your career in? I agree with Shilpi here.
In the end, one requires a bit more patience and wait for the right role, unless there are serious personal or financial reasons.
All the best.
Regards
Ryan

the problem is that as a fresher iam not getting any gud opportunity in generalistic profile.i cant sit at home for a long time, not because of financial reasons but because i dont want to sit idle.
i just wanted to know that suppose for next few months i dont get any job in generalsitic prifofile then does candidates with this kind of experience are considered for any profile of Hr wich is a mix of a no. of hr activies, since iam an MBA in HR and recruitment is not the only domain where i want to get the exposure.

You have all confused me....
Please clarify this,
whats the profile of corporate?
Whats the profile of a consultant working in consultancy doing only recruitments?
How does he become eligible to go into corporate after consultancy experience.

Hi Jyo,
Here is Kumar. H.P working as HR Executive, Bangalore.
Any profession has its own way of growing. Its good that you are in to recruitment in the starting stage itself. Get equiped with all skills of recruitment and then think about changing or whatever you want. But simultaniously do concentrate on other concepts of HR.

Hi Jyoti,
Its always better to work in a consultancy for first 1 or 2yrs. You will get enough exposure compare to that of a corporate. working 1yr in a consultancy is equal to 2yrs in a corporate.
As a fresher i would suggest you to join a consultancy there you will be handling many clients hence you will get enough exposure.
Cheers manjoo

Hi Jyoti,
The best place to gain HR expertise for a fresher in the place where you are working at present. Many of my colleagues have laid the first step of the career in Recruitment consultancies. In fact MNCs prefer some HR experience from Recruiment consultancies. There is no harm in trying now, probably 3-6 months down the line you may be lined up with lucrative offers too good to resist. No experience goes a waste. At every stage you learn something new which probably you could implement in the long run. You may realize that over the passage of time you will develop good communication skills, be tactful and diplomatic, witty, sharp and alert. Over and above it all you may learn to have a thick skin in this corporate world where you have to face the harshness from different professionals. Everything happens for a good reason, the most important of all is to believe in yourself and know that the best is in store for you.
Since you are in the Recruitment consultancy, there is a very good chance for you to gain first hand knowlege about the existing vacancies. If the existing vacant profiles sent out by your company clients interest you, then why dont you try for them instead rather than sending somebody else.
