@teekayain, - First of all compliance must be in letter and spirit, - it is wrong to encourage a person to sign Form 11 if he has ever been under the ambit of the PF. - Once in PF means always in PF, i.e., irrespective of an employee coming out of the prescribed earning for coming under act, a minimum contribution should continue. Hope this clarifies.

This same message has been posted 2 times before, i think by the same person as the wording of the post is exactly the same.
I assume that this was a mistake.
Please remember that if you post in different threads, you are not going to get the answer you want and the information is fragmented. As a result, anyone looking for the information in future gets confused

Employee does not have an option to opt out of the scheme. However, if the wage of the employee at the time of joining the company is more than Rs.6500/- (Basic plus DA) he need become an member and he can at his option become EPF member. Once he has opted to become a member, he cannot opt out after wards.
As regards Form 11, it is the declaration given at the time of joining a company. If you are already a member of PF and have not withdrawn the amount, you have to declare the same in form 11. If you are already a member earlier and had not withdrawn the amount then even if you salary is more than Rs.6500/- you have to compulsorily become member of the Fund.

It is mandatory for the employers to deduct PF from employees whose salary or basic salary is below Rs.6500/-. But as HR you should always advise for opting EPF only as this will help him to accumulate PF and draw huge amount at a later date. This PF amount will also qualify for I.T. exemption also. Those who continuously stay paying PF for 10 years, are eligible for Pension. Hence lot of benefits for opting PF. Hence you should make the employee to opt for PF only.

Hi,
Though there are mix up of two posts, it leads to a question.
That now as the min wages has been revised to above Rs.6500/- in New Delhi, can I conclude that all the new recruits will be out of ambit of EPF.
Assuming that all new recruits are semi skilled and earlier not covered under EPF anywhere.
