GOOD EVENING TO ONE & ALL
THIS IS HARI.I AM HOLDING B.TECH (MECH), MBA(HR), WITH LLB AROUND 6 YRS OF EXPERIENCE IN HR&ADMIN.
TOTALLY I HAVE AROUND 4+ YRS EXP IN PHARMA AND 2+ YRS IN CONSTRUCTIONS.
CURRENTLY WORKING AS A SR.EXECUTIVE-HR IN PHARMA COMPANY.RECENTLY MY PROFILE AS SR.HR IN MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION COMPANY ABOUT TO GET FINALISED,BUTI AM LITTLE BIT WORRIED TO MOVE TO THAT INDUSTRY BECAUSE I AM NOT AWARE OF CONDITIONS IN IT.
I WAS ASKED TO GIVE 2 YRS BOND, AT THE SAME TIME WHEN I SPOKE TO GUYS WORKING IN MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION THEY SUGGESTED THAT THEY WILL BE HIGH ATTRITION IN MED TRANS INDUSTRY,THATS WHY I AM LITTLE BIT WORRIED WHETHER I CAN MANAGE RECRUITMENT OR NOT.
IF IT IS A GOOD PACKAGE CAN I TAKE THE STEP, OR IS THERE ANYTHING THAT THIS EXPERIENCE DOESNT COUNT TO HR.
PLEASE SUGGEST I AM IN DILEMMA.
OR ELSE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF I MOVE TO SAP CAREER OPTION IN LONG RUN.
KINDLY SEND YOUR VALUABLE SUGGESTIONS.
THANK YOU
REGARDS

Dear Hari,

I will give you my opinion but first I would like you to think about one point - You said that you are not sure if your will be able to manage recruitment in MT industry since attrition is high, but you will take up the job is salary is good. My question is : If the Co. gives you higher salary then will it suddenly increase your recruitment expertise? Are you thinking of taking up this job because you can deliver the requirements or you just want higher salary and less work?

My recommendation is - don't take up a job just because salary is higher, salary does matter but you should take up a job if you are reasonably sure you will be to deliver. No point in having high salary and low productivity.

Coming back to you query:

Attrition in MT industry is a bit high, but I also know few companies where most employees have stuck around for 3+ years.

Consider the following before finalizing your decision:

1. MT industry industry does not require very high skill set, but is there sufficient talent pool in the vicinity/city where your Co. is based for you to backfill attrition.

2. Does the Co. have long term stable business visibility? I know from experience that work in MT industry varies a lot so there are times when you have to lay off excess staff and sometime you shortage of staff.

3. What kind of competition is the MT company facing? Are there any other companies which are paying higher salary for same kind of work? if yes, then attrition will be higher. However I have noticed that female employees in MT industry stick around if the workload is reasonable, they don't switch just for money. Guys do.

Having given you my opinion about the MT industry, I would recommend that career in SAP is far more stable and rewarding in the long run. If you have good knowledge of recruitment / payroll / compensation that you can definitely consider becoming a functional consultant.
