Dear All,

I am a first class student throughout with a decent background and a promising bundle of talents. I am creative and love challenges. I completed my MBA in HR from a very reputed business school in Noida and was initially given an offer by L&T, but did not receive any further communication from them. After my MBA i did upload my CV on all job portals but i did not receive any call from any company. I made a professional CV with all the keywords right, again with the same result.

i did freelance writing work for almost a month and they paid me for the first month. Second month i wrote articles worth 20,000K but they said they had rejected it and refused to pay me, however later i found those articles published on various sites with a different name. I also tried freelance recruiting which again resulted in non payment of my dues.(one year was wasted there).

I was quite frustrated by than and my ex high school principal asked me to join school where i taught geography upto class 9th ( although i myself had studied it till class 10 only but i worked hard and gave an excellent result.)

I also took tutions to support myself and taught tuition of science upto class 10th and my tuition students got above 90% in the ICSE board. However i got no call from industry based on my fresher CV. I talked to a few people in industry. One of them failed to give me a job but furnished me an original Appointment letter in his company( he is Vice President of that company).

I made my CV again and i got call from ZTE based on new CV but i could not tell lie in the interview and got rejected there. I seriously am a good learner and an workaholic who can deliver results with hard work and dedication, but i somehow am not getting a break.

Now two years have passed and according to industry am neither a fresher nor an experienced, I need job badly coz i have adopted my orphan cousin ( who recently lost his mom n dad). I did get frustrated at times but i always moved on , slowly i have begun thinking that there is seriously something wrong with me that makes me unfit to work, coz i see everywhere people working in industry. I am still teaching in the school but that is not where i belong.I always wanted to go to industry so i opted BBA instead of BAMS ( on Govt seat) after class 12th. I have a record on above 75 % till now. I am soft spoken and modest. I always try to help anyone and everyone who comes across my way. I dont understand why i am stuck. Can anyone help me?

Dear Jyotsana
Sometimes such things happen to even good people. You have been faring well despite the odds against you. This should give you more strength and motivation. Do not feel discouraged. You can definitely get an HR assignment as a Fresher.
Register yourself in the jobsites like naukri, monster and keep a look out on such openings. Also subscribe to TOI - Ascent on Wednesday, Hindustan Times - Shine on Tuesday - these supplements carry mostly openings in IT/BPO sector for Freshers in several fields/functional area.
Please check your CV - if its in a proper format and free of errors.

Dear Jyotsna,
Sorry to note your situation. But do not lose heart. One thing that drew my attention was your experience of writing articles. My sincere advice is next time you write something like that lodge a copy with the date of its creation on your laptop and mail it to yourself or a close friend. If anyone copies it without paying then you can complain that your work has been plagiarized.
People at Citehr like S.Roy will certainly help you? You also need to make clear whether you are willing to locate out of your present place, as you have adopted your orphaned cousin.
Wish you all the best.

Dear Jyotsna Singh,
If you are not getting job in HR then should you wait for that job only? Why you do not wish to get into Operations, Purchase or Supply Chain? There is great shortage of talented professionals.
You can try to get that kind of job even now also. Think it over.
All the best!

Dear Seniors,

Thanks a lot for your kind support and your suggestions. I did upload my CV on all the job sites, shine, naukri, monster, indeed, etc and keep updating the resume every week. I have been applying to all the relevant openings in Times Ascent and other newspapers. I tried BPOs too but the salary in BPO's is very less and they outright reject me telling that i am overqualified. I did get few calls from recruitment firms but there too the salary paid is very less. Also I am not looking for going only into HR. I had even done some SEO freelance work on project basis. Like i said earlier ,I am a very quick learner and can do any type of job,( no job is good or bad for me, until i have to do something) ,the roadblock is i do not get interview calls owing to a big gap and when I do I am treated as an underperformer and am offered a low ball offer. I have also pursued a certification course in Training And Development.

Relocation is not an issue for me since my cousin is studying in boarding and i have invested all my savings to pay his this year's fee, and have fixed deposit in his name for the next year as well.I usually do not get disheartened with the challenges of life and carry a very positive attitude besides this my efforts are usually directed in searching other options of getting out of a particular situation. In a hope to get better suggestions I started this thread and am glad I am getting worthwhile return.

A heartfelt appreciation and big note of Thanks to all of you for your empathy and wonderful suggestion. I am still looking for more suggestion.Last but not the least I would like to specially thank Mr.Roy for his genuine concern. Thanks a lot sir. I have forwarded my CV. I am really very appreciative of your kind gesture.

Dear Jyotsna,
If I am right whenever you create a document and send it, there will be a record on the computer with the date created. If you have, then write a polite letter to whoever is taking the credit for your article, that they are misusing it without paying you, etc., and let us know the reaction.

Hello Jyotsna Singh,
Why not post your resume also in CiteHR?
That too could draw attention of your multi-skills experience.
In a way, that could also give the members to look your situation from different angles--many times proximity to a situation blinds/clouds the judging capabilities of the individual(s) involved. In such scenarios, allowing others [whose judgement you can trust] to have a look--as close as possible--helps a lot. In the given situation, I guess posting your resume in CiteHR would be the nearest you can get to it.
Having said that, I also think you surely shouldn't get disheartened @ a time when you need the courage to face life THE MOST. Though saying it is easy, practicing it is indeed quite tough, and more so when all you can depend on is YOURSELF & HIM [I know it, having gone thru many such cycles in life]. Like the Quote goes: "When the Going gets Tough, the Tough get Going"--applying to you, this is your Testing time.
All the Best.

To continue my earlier response [can't help it I guess, with the limited Edit time feature now available]----
There's one line that you mentioned draw my attention: '.....I am still teaching in the school but that is not where i belong....'--I think you are mixing-up between 'what has come your way' AND 'what you want to come your way'. Hope you see the difference.
Take it from me--NOTHING ever comes one's way without any context/purpose. It's just that we EITHER refuse to see/notice it OR are looking the other way.
Maybe you are cut-out MORE for teaching than other professions? Or maybe this is some sort of a foundation for what you MAY need to achieve later in life? The possibilities are plenty--just do wholeheartedly what comes your way, even while you keep your eyes & ears open for new opportunities [meaning NOT getting into a depressive mood, by which you end-up NEITHER solving the problem NOR doing justice to your present]. If you think this is just some 'bhashan' or consoling words, pl perish the thought--I am saying this from personal experience.
All the Best.
Rgds,
TS
