Dear Parul,
What kind of vendors you are looking for? Vendor selection for factory will differ from vendor selection for any other company. You need to tell us little more about your company and also about your requirement.

Dear Satish,
I conduct the training programmes on "Vendor Management". Just yesterday, I conducted Public Workshop on this subject at Chennai. You need to attend this workshop. Click here if you wish to know more about this workshop.
Vendor selection is exhaustive process. While selecting vendors, ask the following questions to yourself:
What are we trying to secure from the vendor?
Is the vendor really fit for our purpose?
Who should provide resource otherwise?
What are the risks/rewards in assigning task to vendor?
What is the correct methodology of selection?
Of the above five questions, to get replies on second and last question, check vendor's:
Physical assets
Financial assets
Intellectual property assets (if any)
Human assets
Knowledge assets
I may conduct workshop on "Vendor Management" in Mumbai provided some company agrees to market it. You need to attend this workshop. If you are not purchase manager or vendor manager then for your level simple programme like "Purchase Management (Basic level) also will do. On 24-Aug-2012, I will conduct this workshop at Hyderabad. You may click here if you wish to know more about this workshop.
Connect with me on Linkedin and you will get regular updates about my all workshops.
Thanks,
