Hi,
Appraisal is nothing but evaluation of individual's performance. It is directly linked to increment & promotion...
You have been asked to define your objectives...What you can do is be very specific. You can also show your willingness to work for different functions..i.e if you are looking after Recruitment function then you can always shift to Payroll or Training & Development after some years or may be months..Can also highlight your career aspirations...

Asking employees to make up their own objectives is a legitimate method that many organizations use to engage and motivate staff. It is designed to give them a sense of ownership of what they are meant to be doing in their role. Good companies and managers then follow this up with a two-way discussion about how the goals you created fit in with the organization’s and your department’s goals. It is meant to be an iterative process in which both parties contribute to the employee’s and the organization’s well being.
In this vein, use this to your advantage by defining goals that:
a) you think will matter to the organization, whilst
b) satisfying your personal interests and motivations.

Hey Appraisal is nothing but a way to figure out tht you are able to achieve your desired targets for which you will be rewarded bonus or incentives based on your performance.Well me myself is preparing an appraisal form and assisting ym senior in doing the appraisal of the employees,so dont worry its nothing,its just listing your responsibilities and the work u have done throughout the year.And your career option doesnt carry any score because the company wants to see that at what level you see yourself down 3 to 4 years from now.i Hope u must have understood.So dont worry and relax.
