Hi Julian

First of all you will need to do a root cause analysis of why the interpersonal skills are poor. In fact I would go one step backward and ask if really it is the interpersonal skills that is the problem or some other factor like organizational climate, poor supervision etc that is the cause.

Assuming that your problem is interpersonal skills, then check if it is because of cultural barriers, language barriers or work environmental problems. Only if the diagnosis is right can the remedy be given appropriately. You cannot implement games at random to change behavior. You will need to give them some training inputs, create an environment of learning and then use appropriate tools to bring about the change.

Perhaps a session on The JOHARI Window would be very helpful to begin with.

Dear Julian Sequeira,

As Mr Jacob has told, few games were change one's behaviour, the world would have been a far better place to live in. But this is not the case.

We behave by default. Interpersonal skills teaches us how to behave by design. There are rules of behaviour and nobody has taught us how to behave. Now changing one's behaviour is quite difficult. Nevertheless it is possible to do so by practice and above all by one's willingness.

You also need to create a mechanism whereby you ensure that the learning is put on practice. Else it will be "like water off duck's back" situation.

I have conducted the workshops on interpersonal skills several times. Just in this week, I have conducted three workshops at Mumbai. Please tell me when you want the training to be conducted and it will be my pleasure to do so.

To make you aware of my training activities, I have attached my training e-Brochure to this post.

Thanks,

Dinesh V Divekar
