i believe that any extra knowledge you pick up does not go waste.... but it is time that you need to manage....
If you target to get into a company that is using SAP for its HR activities than definitely learn that.... it may be the best you could do....
As for the study material, it is very difficult to study just by reading few books and i would advice that you take proper training a some good institute as without practical exposure and usage... it is not possible to learn any computer software....
The topics covered by SAP for HR module are
* Personnel Management
* Time Management
* Payroll
* Training and Event Management
* Organizational Management
* Travel Management
* Benefits Management
* Employee Self-Service (ESS)

Hi Friends
I'm a MBA (HR) working in a mid sized IT company as a HR Generalist for the last 6 months. I would like to make a career shift into SAP HR & work as a functional consultant .I'm interested in undergoing SAP training ,but the training institutes have told me I need atleast 1 yr of domain experience in HR,some have even told me I need prior work experience in SAP HR.....I'm a bit confused Because as far as my information goes a fresher cannot get into a SAP functional consultant role without work experience.What is the true picture???

Hi to all, I am an MBA with 2 yrs of experience, and i did my SAP training after that. Then also at the time of training few things were so much new to me that i was not able to understand those easily. So, with my expereince i'll suggest all that after completing Master's degree one should go for practical expereince (through Job) it helps us lot in understanding the new and advance process. Anji
