Dear Seniors,
I am facing a strange situation in my organization. This is regarding dress sense of a woman employee. In our organization we don't have a hard core dress code policy. In our employee manual formal and semi casual dressing is allowed. That lady who is quite bulky is wearing some western outfits which can be termed as business casuals, but the problem is that the outfits that she wears are very tight fitted and doesn't look good. It is causing a problem and few of our senior officials have pointed i out and has asked me to look into it. If i call and tell that employee not to wear those will not look good as whatever she is wearing can be termed as business casuals and will definitely look good in shapely person. I am not being able to understand how to handle this without hurting anybody. Can anyone suggest me of a dress code policy for reference?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Dear Mr. Bad Looser,
You are indeed a looser. I think we are in this site to discuss HR issues and solve problems and not to encourage the craps like you have written. If you don't have any constructive opinion then don't reply. As you are a member of this HR community I think you are also one of us or aspiring to be one. I wonder how do you manage your work with such an unprofessional attitude.
Just one friendly advice. Henceforth please think before you reply to any of the posts or someday somebody will complain about this to the moderator and you will be expelled from this community.

Hello Sunentra
Its really odd to look at a gal or women dress with tight fittings and that too which doesn't suit them also.Even if she wears a formal or business clothes, you can politely mail all the gals generally saying them,
This is a private instruction given by senior management for all the gals to wear business attire or formal dresses which should be decent and covered neatly.
Not any tight fittings or low necks or short tops are allowed here.So please check into the dresses you wear while at our office.Mark this message to all gals in BCC copy. Also mention one more word also saying any other casual dresses weared either a day or two should also fill the above instructions.
If the same problem prevails, take her to a separate room and tell her directly the comments goin on in the office.Atleast she can realise something after it.

Dear Friend,
I can understand the situation,I suggest you to take help of another female collegue ,discuss the matter with her and then in turn she can further explain the lady to wear something that suits her.
this can be done in a way which hurts none like when ever this lady wears outfits which normally suits her,she sholud be given compliment or you can tell her that these kind of clother suits her much.
slowly and slowly she will understand the work culture and what people expect.
please take care that here the sentiments are not hurt.
good luck

Dear Sunetra,
This case is not that much difficult to handle,
As Mr. Vairamuthu and Baneeth said, you can give advice to all the women staffs
working in your organisation by means of common circular and also by individual
councelling. This kind of approach not only for this case but also for many other issues
arises in the organisation.
Keep in mind regular or periodical discussion/ meeting/ councelling with the employees
will give you better solutions for any kind of problem
Regards,
Kumar

Dear Sunetra,
It is obviously an example of misbehavior in an organisation. Dress code also represents the culture and standard of any organisation. You should take up the matter immediately to your top management and make adequate changes in your HR policies by clearly stating the dress code of employees. And send it to all immediately, what should be allowed or not. The restriction may be relaxed on certain days like Fridays, festivals, annual days etc...
For your information, some dress code policies of organizations are attached. Hope this will suit your requirements..
Thank you..
