Automobile industry is a manufacturing industry concerned with production of goods where as IT industry is a service delivery business concerned with prodcution of services. In HR's perspective, the employee profile of a manufacturing industry is largely composed of workmen with basic trade skills like lathing, forging, welding and machine operating and thier general educations is moderate with technical training in various tardes. The employee profile in IT industry is composed of knowledge workers with high and sophisticated computing skills and thus are well educated and therefore their needs level is different from those in manufacturing sector. The HR role in manufacturing is mainly concerned with looking after employee welfare, health and safety, lay-offs or retrenchments, industrial relations, statutory compiances, grievance handling, discipline management, negotiations and settlmeents. The HR in IT industry is mainly concerned with talent acquistion and management, employee enagement, performance management, training and development and employee enagement etc. It is not to say there can be a water tight division between the roles of automobile HR and IT HR.
