Hi Vivek,
According to the University Grants Commission Act, universities and university-level institutions, including deemed universities, alone can award MBA and related degrees. The institutions outside the university system can award postgraduate diplomas.
All institutions offering PG programmes in management should obtain the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). PG Diplomas in Business Administration / Management awarded by very few institutions are approved by the AICTE or recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to the corresponding masters degree/MBA.
Deemed universities can also offer MBA or Master's Degree in Management. The AIU is the appropriate authority for granting recognition.
The reputation of the institution within the industry, the quality of the faculty, infrastructure, placement record, location of the institute, etc. are the factors that need to be taken into account before choosing a masters programme or a PG diploma.
It is not important whether you pursue PGDM or MBA. The institution where you are studying is of paramount importance and enhances your employability.
Those who pass out from reputed institutes get better job opportunities in multinational companies in the executive/managerial posts.
IIMs, Xavier Labour Relation Institutes (XLRI), Jamshedpur, Xavier Institute of Management (XIM), Bhubaneswar, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, Narseemonjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (Andheri West) Mumbai, Barathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) Tiruchirapalli, etc. are some of the top institutes offering PG programmes in management.
I will check out and advise you on the telecom management course in a couple of days.
Regards,
AJ

Hi Vivek,
I am not sure about this institute for post graduation, I guess you could wait for a better university. My apprehension is based on the below mentioned comment:
I am not sure about this institute for post graduation, I guess you could wait for a better university. My apprehension is based on the below mentioned comment:
“BITM is not affiliated to or recognized / approved by any state/central government statutory bodies or agencies like UGC /AICTE/ UNIVERSITY ”
Still you could get in touch with aluminis and get the idea of how worthy is this college.

Hi Vivek,
The problem with joining an institute which doesnt have AICTE approval is as good as tutoring yourself with a private person and getting a certificate from him.
None of the workplaces consider this as an authentic certificate. But still these places are good for improving your knowledge, In case your friend says that they have good placement, still i would prefer you to get in touch with the alumini and check with them how this course has helped their careers, generally people are happy to help. You can get the nos. of alumini from the college career placement cell.
These certificates are also not valid if you are planning to go abroad.
Also in the while keep looking for a college that has the government approval.

Sir,
I am in the same state as Vivek. Even i have passed out B.Tech In Electronics and Telecommunication. I looked for an institute here in my state which offers Telecom PGDM. It says it has been registered with National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET), Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Govt. of India.
Is it good enough as an AICTE approval? Will it be helpful to build me a better carrier? What kind of position will it help me to occupy in a Telecom industry?
The course contents are as follows:
• Introduction to Telecom Management
• Network Management
• Telecom Policies & Technology
• Telecom Marketing
• Telecom Services and Information Security
• Internetworking technology
• E-commerce – Definition
• Telecom Business Engineering and Business application
• Future Trends in Telecommunications
Plz do reply soon....
