Hi All, One of my friend has 4 years exp as an HR executive and resigned the job to take care of parents since her parents are not well. Once they are recovered she started looking for jobs and got an offer (contract) after 5 months gap. But after working 1.5 months in the new company she lost the job due to the corona crisis.
After that, she is not getting any calls and now it's almost 1-year gap. No one shortlisting the profile. Can you please advise how to tackle this situation and to get a job.

Career Gap is not as big a cause of concern as it used to be earlier anymore, specially if you have a valid reason and enough proof to support your gap. Yes it also depends on the interviewer how he/she sees the situation of gap.

In case of your friend, she seems to have a very valid reason for leaving the job and we all are aware of the situations that Covid brought in front of us. Hiring was freezed in many sectors, worse was that people were asked to leave with some Severance package(s) to support their exit.

Also would like to suggest that, your friend to be very active in the corporate world and social network platforms like LinkedIn, and try to make as many professional connects as possible to help her get a lead to a job opening suiting her profile. Market is slowly opening up and job opportunities also have seen some increase in recent past. If your friend is having the required skill and can prove herself in an interview then no body would reject a potential candidate.

Yes, she needs to have an open mind to a relevant job opportunity irrespective of the size of the company (do check the credentials of the company). Wishing best to you and your friend.
