Hi, Just have a query for Sandwich leave. Suppose employee is on leave from monday to friday and before that week saturday is working and he took half day for saturday. Will sunday be counted as a leave as it is sandwiched between working days. Please clarify my doubt.

Dear Omika,
No, as you said the employee was present on Saturday, Half Day. Therefore, Sunday to be counted as W/Off. and his leave start from Monday only.
However, If you have added any relevant clause / condition in your company leave policy, under the light of that clause you may take decision.
***Clause such as.... ''Privilege Leave, Casual Leave and Weekly Off [All three] cannot be combined together''.
If such clause is available in your company leave policy then, Saturday to be marked as half day Absent, Sunday to be counted as W/Off. and his leave start from Monday
Thanks,

In the above case sunday will be counted as weekoff as the employee has worked on Saturday. In other case it depends on the policy of the company......

The best way to calculate the weekly off is to consider the number of working days in a month as under -
Number of Days in month - 30
Number of weekly holidays - 4
Number of Working days - 26
Number of Days actually worked - 20 including 2 half days worked.
Monthly Salary - 26,000/-
Salary Payable - 26,000/26 x 20 = 20,000/- only
This will cover the proportionate weekly off for the number of days actually worked and there shall be no hassles of sandwich working/holidays.
We are adopting this practice in our organisations since last 4-1/2 years.

It is requested to all that don’t always be so rigid, at times it helps to be lenient. After these are norms, not writing on the wall.
