Hi all, I'm new to this field and I'm wondering how is Hospitalisation Leave being administrated for Employees who are covered under the ESI Act?
1. Does the company still pay the employee wages during the period of hospitalisation? I've read at some places and it seems to me that the company does not need to pay the employee during the period of absence as the wages will come from ESI. Is this true?
2. If part 1 is true, how many days does ESI pay wages for such cases?
Your prompt assistance will be appreciated. Thank you.

The Organization will not pay the salary during the employee sickness if employee is covered ESIC. I think it dependance doctors report. i think there is no such clause.

Dear Joyris,
ESIC leave will be granted for 2 weeks by a prescribed certificate by the Local ESIC doctor where the employee is registered. After 2 weeks if the Local Doctor found that the employee is still sick, he will refer the case to ASST.MEDICAL OFFICER of the Local ESI hospital. Once is the employee is admitted in ESIC hospital for treatement, till his discharge from the Hospital the salary will be paid by the ESIC and not by the employer. The Salry will be credited to his personal Savings account .
Regards.
