Dear All
As all of you know that in our country even though the safety legislation's are in place, plenty of work place accidents are taking place... Even the government can't say an authentic data on how much in numbers these accidents occurring across the country... In this situation what should be about the compensation of these injured workers, really it's pathetic condition...
Many NGO's across country is working for the uplift of such poorer people... One such leading NGO is People Training Research Center based on Gujarat... The core member of PTRC Mr. Jagdish Prasad is one of our active member in CiteHR... With his idea in the below thread and the motivation of Mr. Raghu, I am starting this new thread...
https://www.citehr.com/437051-injury...-kitchens.html
I will request now Mr. Jagsidh Patel to come forward and show the path forward... if the members of CiteHR is interested to organize for this noble cause, how we can be the reason for the uplift of those poor suffered employees / victims of Occupational health & Workplace Accidents...
I hope if we able to meet this will surely help each of us personal as well as professional growth... We may meet at a common place in each state for the discussion/making an action plan to move further on this noble thoughts...
Looking forward to hear the views/suggestions/comments of other members...

Dear Dipil,
Thanks for starting a thread.
We ahve to decide a location to meet.
I think Mumbai would be convenient for members from Maharashtra, Gujrat and Rajastan.
However if any other location is finalized should be ok for me.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

I am so glad that after Ramesh Bahrdwaj's post and subsequent responses, Raghu inspired Dipil to initiate new thread. Dipil immediately acted up on and introduced the thread.We all are concerned about the working people in hotel & restaurant workers in this thread.
S& H of worker scan be ensured by 1. Workers themselves to some extent and has lot of limitations. They can be trained and made aware on what need to be done through pamphlets etc (formal and informal methods and routes) 2. Owners who have a major responsibility. They also may be approached by civil society groups offering them technical help as thy may need. 3. Government also has a responsibility by drafting policy, collect data-publish and analyze them for further refinement on policy or laws, enacting laws, enforce them, prosecute violators and create conducive social environment.
We have no law at the moment giving legal protection to the hotel and restaurant workers S & H at work. Even without law workers can be protected but if law is there it becomes mandatory and make a great difference.
For any campaign we would need some good case studies to start with and I invite one and all to share their experiences.

Team,
Sure I'll be part of our team on this noble cause. I have no issue about meeting spot.
I have few question hope it must be help us to implement the program;
How do we will start our project?
How do we implement our program in future?
How do we connect our people who doesn't have a chance to attend the meetings but willing to join our team?
How do we invite our peoples other than citehr Family?
We need to find suitable name for our program?
How do we share our case studies through our program to others?
One more main thing how do we put light on our program which will make interest to others join in our team?
I have few more question Please seniors feel free to come forward and help us to create a right path.

Dear Raghu
I think all these questions can be answered when we able to meet at a location and discuss the things...
My thought only..
I think there are even good NGO's working based at Delhi also... We may take their help or join with them or something like that...PTRC can give more inputs this special aspect... But the thing is how much CiteHR members are coming forward.. Lets see... So far only regular and guaranteed responders come forwards...

Dear all, I usually miss such threads where I have no expertise. However, at Raghuvaran's request, I read the contents with interest. I also accessed the web, as my wont, and read a good article at http://worksafebc.com <link fixed>
In another dissertation at http://digitalscholarship.unlv.edu/c...0prevention%22
I found the following advice and wonder how many establishments really collect such data!!
"...hotels collect data regarding workplace injuries in order to identify activities that may
only result in a moderately severe injury, but have a high probability of occurring. The
information collected for each injury should at a minimum include:
• the date and time of the injury;
• the name of the injured employee;
• the location of the injury;
• the activity being performed by the employee at the time of the injury;
• the type of injury sustained (body part and diagnosis);
• and the direct cost incurred by the hotel as a result of the injury.
I am based in the UK and can part in discussions at CiteHR but not able to attend any meetings, as I cannot afford travel expenses to come just for that.
Wish the group all the best.

thanks Raghu for the invite. Idea seems to be good but tasks are ahead in cobbling together the like minded friends at a common point as you know the members are spread across globe and many may not have time slot to attend such meets due to their busy job schedule as well as associated cost parameters. all the best.

Thank you. Raghu for setting agenda of the meeting. Dipil is right in saying,at the meeting these and other issues may be discussed. For successful intervention emotions only would not work. We need to know how many are active and how many of them may be interested in such a meeting. Rest can be decided later
