I would like to know if there are any laws in India that prevent bullying and intimidation in the office?
For example, my friend from Mumbai (male) was bullied verbally by a clique in his office, which consisted of juniors (as well as a senior). They all ganged up and made sexually dirty remarks about him. He was constantly tormented by females with snide, dirty remarks. He was forced to resign the company (proprietorship) because of this harassment. It has mentally affected him.
What can be done about this. Is there any way to legally get justice?

Hi Pooja,

A male harassed and was made to resign is strange

Might be if you can give the case in details, members would be able to understand.

As a Human Being, the person has to resist or retaliate the situation.

Dear Sirs,
Could you please be kind enough to send details of the Acts and Rules of "Aristocracy of Reserved Category in India"?
Is there any rule or act under IPC which states about the punishment in which the general candidate is bullied by a person of reserved category?
Regards

Hi,
My case a bit different, recently there is a Senior Professional hired in my organisation and I am reporting to her as her ADMIN,however I am finding very difficult to work with her. She is a well know name in the industry and highly qualified. However whenever it comes to her travel arrangement she some or the other finds nooks and starts bombarding me for no fault. The way she speaks is highly unprofessional and baseless. If I try to go to her cabin to find out from her agenda for the week she tells me that I am disturbing her in her in routine work asks me to go out of the cabin. Her approval is always require don the invoices, which she do not give and tell me to bring next day which takes month for payment to vendors. Even if I am not in falut I have to listen to her crap.
I cannot approach HR also as my boss is the company's president.
Hey friends please help me.

Hi,
I am a software engineer in a small IT firm. From starting I was hard working and efficient. But nowadays My seniors keep me overloaded and under pressure while other engineers having same salary are free.
Even they call me over phone about any issue came when I am on leave or in emergency where I could not come to office, while they can consult other employee at the same time. They include me on project made by other employees keeping them free. I am started to frustrate now when I see other employees are not working or others assigned I need to do.
I feel it is because I am non-bengoli and all of them are bengolis. My head never scold my bengoli fellow employees more over that he scolds me when he needs to scold other employee.
is there any legal action I can take or please suggest me what to do ? I have started searching new job and willing to resign this company.

Abcd1234,
This kind of ganging up on linguistic or state basis is quite common in many places.
You have taken right step of looking around for alternatives.
Remain cool and calm in face of provocations and also document most of the happenings.
Emails, written communication on events would build up a paper trail in case of any serious issues where they try and fix you.
AS I keep saying there is remedy in law but judicial system is too slow and costly.
Remedy on paper is no remedy at all.
When you are on leave are you expected to keep the mobile on,have an alternate private number and keep the office mobile literally switched off.
While regional feelings can be a cause of such treatment,do self analysis and critically check whether something is wrong from your side also.
But above all-remain cool and collected as earlier written and document happenings.
Dont loose your confidence.

Dear Shraddha ,
By studying your problem i would suggest you to email your boss if she is not giving you time physically . Tell her in email that payments are being delayed and vendor asking for their payments. Delaying payment affecting company reputation in eyes of vendors as well as in market . Email her daily a soft reminder with all respect about the work pending because of her approvals . Humbly ask her and remind her in emails request her . Emails are your evidence that work is not being delayed from your end and that is not your negligence in work. Handle this situation smartly with patience
BEST OF LUCK

If he was being murdered in factory premises then yes company is responsible to pay his family a lifetime compensation . Murdered employee family can also file a case in court against the company because within the company premises company is responsible if any mishap hap happened with any employee . Its fall in HEALTH & SAFETY policy of the employee . Company should have done the criminal background check of the employee before hiring into the company .
