Athena
I have recently been looking at most of the "certified" courses out there, especially train the trainer courses and found only a handful that actually have any credentials behind them. So what is a certification if it is not substantiated by a body that says the certification means something?
Does anyone know of accredited train the trainer certifications? Or of any agency which accredits these kinds of things?

Athena, most certifications are really not certification but certificates issued by the course providers. Directive Communication TTTs are accredited by the AIOBP, American Institute of Business Psychology, AIOBP Accreditation and Certification for Training and Coaching. There are some others attached to universities, but this organization is independent and international (Even if it is American) and focuses on training and coaching

The AIOBP is a good resource, Situational Leadership by Ken Blanchard companies is another of their accredited courses. But they have recently revised their accreditation criteria, not sure why.

Hi Athena,
Yes! Accredited programs make a huge difference. A certification without accreditation means that there is no validation to it. A certification from an accredited organization adds to your CV and your credibility as a trainer. One such organization that accredits training programs is the American Institute Of Business Psychology (AIOBP).
You should check out "Directive Communication International", they offer accredited training programs and Train the Trainer Certification Programs.

ask for credentials. as mentioned earlier, AIOBP provides credentials, and so do government accreditation bodies. If a certification IS accredited, they will probably mention it in their marketing since it makes a big difference in sales
