Dear Neel,
Great to know about your work. Let us know if we can be of any help. You may find the practices shared by the industry leaders , but your research would require their success ratio. You may target that with a cross sectional study collecting a huge data . You may even consider interviewing the HR's and employees from these firms. If you keep your questions targeted , it should not be difficult for you to derive an hypothesis.
The ROI for this initiative would depend on how and who implements this. Many a times, most well weighed decision goes wrong at the implementation stage.
You may consider reading this presentation that shares the practices by the industry leaders.
