Hi, I have almost 2 years of experience into Recruitment in consultancy and it is getting very difficult for me to get into a IT Company as a Recruitment Executive. I want to shift to Generalist or Other Areas in HR such as HR shared services representative. What are the topics on which i need to gain knowledge so that i can achieve the same and get a job in an IT Company.

Hi,
Do IT Companies have any requirement based on their job specification posted in their ads? If yes, I guess you may work on those requirements. If I am going to tell my preference, I based mostly on the improvement projects or policies he/she was able to set/impose in a company --I can see here true leadership or a future leader. I need to check the leadership and management style. I want to see how he/she is able to create teamworks. I'd like to know how he/she can be able to handle complaints, do proper investigations with regard to such complaints, how he/she can analyze reports and how can he/she can manage people in departments. Can he/she do trainings/seminars? Do you have general knowledge with regards to salary of IT executives in the market or in any other positions? Mostly I'd like to see the strength in character or I normally called grit. Again, other interviewers will have different preferences. I'm just informing my preferences. Hope this helps! Goodluck!

As already you were in recruitment you better gain more knowledge in Talent Acquisition, Employee relationship, Engagement Activities, Training & Development etc. It adds more value to your skills & enhances the scope for generalist.
