Hi All,
Headhunting is all about:
To get the reqd info or hunt / trace a resource whose whereabout is not known or you have very less info abt him / her ( eg: only the contact number or the company info where he is working).
It's similar to treasure hunt....very challenging, adventurous, full of fun. But, If you get trapped????? One should be very smart, confident and proactive while headhunting.

Dear Venkat,
Headhunting is similar to Profiling the candidates. Each and every organization has its own competitors and rivals in that particular industry. If one organization is looking for a marketing manager in the FMCG, the organization will surely look for the candidate in the same industry. So, the recruiters will start funneling down their competitors and they target the marketing managers of their rivals and approach them to join this organization. This is usually done in the IT organizations where attrition rate is very high and talent acquisition is the major challenge for the HR.

Hi all,
Headhunting is nothing but finding a best candidate from your compitators using refferences or some contacts. It is an excellent recruitment strategy where you can get the best resource with minimal cost. But now a days compitators will not allow us to do headhunting, because they dont want to lose well triened employee and moreover it is against to the law. That is the reason companies always give thirdparties to do headhunting,.
Thanks,
Prasad

For doing head hunting you have to first find out the competitors of your client. Get at least one reference / contact from the competitor. This can be done by using all your networks , internet searches etc. From this contact you can reach the right person.
Asking somebody fairly for a job switch offer is not a wrong practice. There are ethical ways of doing head hunting.
Head hunting is an effective method of sourcing right candidates.
