Presently, I have 2 years of work experience in HR (including Recruitments) and am employed with a small (10-12 employees) software product dvelopment company. I am a MBA grad from tier-II college with a degree from VTU.
My concern is the benefits of getting a HR certification and the relevancy of such certifications in Indian organisations.
I need some suggestions in regards to these certifications like PHR,SPHR,GPHR etc. Will it be beneficial in terms of getting a good job in an Indian MNC (i mean do they consider them really important while hiring) , if yes, is this a right time for me to pursue such certification.
Kindly suggest.

No Certification in any discipline gurantee anything whether know-how, job or employment, good remuneration or MNC/PSU/Ovearseas employment etc...
Certification is only authorised you as capable of taking on profession and your understanding of fundamental principles of the profession.
What matter is your experience and acquired level of expertise in the profession may be specialization in a particular skills to recon you as best talent in the market in that particular skills.
HR is multi-dimention activities each activities itself can be specialised trade for example, Recruitment by Placement Agencies, Training by Training consultants, Organization & Change Management is also needs to hired Consultants. Compensation Management also needs Specialised Consultant.
So, I think you understand the HR domain is more wider and no one has mastered the art of entire gamut of HR Functions it takes ages and lot of research as well as expereince to work with global consultants not local managers or Member of any Professional Forum because they follow only history for action replay........

I read ur response to arpitas note i really appreciate your thinking ,but i my self have an 8yrs of exp in hr .unfortunately i was not able to pursue an MBA degree although i am confident that i have a better know how then any fresh mba hr person but they are still prefered by employers . why so ?

Thanks for initiating this post.......I do agree with the point made by parthasarthi, but i have a query as well.
My case is similar to Arpitha's case i.e. having a two years of experience in HR. I have heard a lot about the PHR,SPHR,GPHR certification courses that it provides a competitive edge in your career which do matter in the global world.
So after a degree in MBA (HR),does these certifications really help ???? Although I believe that an updated knowledge in your field is of prime importance in today's era. So to have a competitive edge over others what should be done?
I request seniors to throw light on this !!!!

So that when one applies for an HR position internationally, having the certification is an "assurance" from the prospective employer that the applicant understands the HR work.... in addition, to work and educational background.

I cleared PHR Certification this June Window. Trust me, the kind of Preparation that is required to clear this exam testifies the HR Acumen as well as Aptitude of the candidate. The level is above MBA-HR, and it is completely application based.
In today's scenario, where everyother person is an MBA from xyz college, having an Internationally recognized Certification can really add to Personal Confidence, Competency and Market value of the Certified Professional.

Did you find any institutes in Hyderabad for the certificate program ? I am also looking to do the certificate and recently heard of an institute called Skill Edvance at SR Nagar, but did not visit, so not sure of the same. Seems more of a financial training institute, but someone in my team told me that they also do HR Courses.
