Hi All,
Would appreciate if you can help me in this, we are providing medical insurance for our employees through Medical Insurance Company. one of our staff got car accident while he was a passenger (Not a driver) out of the working hours going to visit some relatives, However we have submit the pre-approval authorization but the replay was pre-approval rejected since it is Third Party Coverage (They mean that medical insurance don't cover such type of treatment, and it is the responsibility of the car insurance to cover such thing, however car insurance was expired at the date of the accident) I have looked at the policy and contract with the insurance company, but I couldn't find such thing mentioned about that at all.
I would from your kind to let me know such thing as this is look strange for me and not logic because if we assumed that we have a staff bus carrying 25 staff if it meet with accident, then all staff is not covered in the insurance
Thx,

Hi,
Please check whether the medical insurance provided by you covers accidental insurance. If it is covered you may write to the regional manager of your insurance company and if you do not receive any positive reply you may take up the matter with Insurance Regulatory and Development authority.

Hi,
Normally Medical Insurance Should cover any hospitalization expense subsequent to an accident during travel in India, provided 1) the person (driver) is not under the influence of Alcohol /drugs at the time of accident 2) there should be hospitalisaon for more than 24hrs.
Insurance Co. cannot wash off their hands in this case. You should take up the matter with the issuing office
