Dear All,
Is there any mandatory provisions that, contract labour should be paid the National Holidays ( 15th Aug. 26th Jan etc ) ? If yes, then which provision ?.
In general practice, Companies are extending benefits of Paid Holidays to contract labours. Your comments on this please.
Regards,
Rahul

Dear Rahul ji,If you gothrough the Contract Labour Act, The act is also closely related with other act like Factories Act, PF, ESI, Gratutity, Bonus etc. If the principal employer is declared holiday to their establishment its automatically applicable to the contract labour also. But while any agreement is in between the prinicipal employer and contractor regarding the National & Festival Holidays declaration both the parties should bound that agreement.Regards,PBS KUMAR

The answer to the question is not clear.
We are working in a factory in Andhra Pradesh and the contractor is giving only 3 paid holidays to his employees (15th August, 26th January and 1st May). Is this correct?
We give 8 holidays to our own employees as per the National and Festival Holidays Act.
