Please explain what is the statutory diff if the factory licence is obtained for 50,100,250 ,500 & 1000 workers.
Also why most of the employers take licence for only 100 employees ,is there some relation in case the factory is to be closed.
Thanks & Regards,

Dear friend,
This difference shows the strength of licence based on which fee is to be paid to the concerned authorities.
No there is no relation of strength of licence with the closing of factory.

Dear Shivani,
1) You apply for factories license when the establishment falls under the definition of "Factories" under Factories Act, 1948.
2) The maximum number of workers that is required should be given, it can be any number like 82, usually applicants round it off.
3) According to the number, various compliances come in like if 500 or more Labour Welfare Officer needs to be appointed, more than 150 you need to have more than one first aid box and so on.
4) Closing/Retrenchment of an establishment is covered under Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 and permission, notice period and pay depends on the number of workers employed.
