Hi
You can ask for the reason of leaving Because this types of issue keeps on coming, definitely he must have got the offer from some other company, so u can negotiate on that or if you don't get any valid reason than no need to waste time for in professional candidate. You can search out for next.

Hi Neelam,
As per my view, you have got nothing to question the absconded employee, As he has not yet collected his offer letter and signed the acceptance of employment and terms specified. But, you can defiantly cross check for the reason of leaving the job in such a short span, which can be useful for you to improvise the organizational practices, except the reason of better job opportunity with respects to CTC.
And, my personal view is that, its better to contact the person a month later from the day of his ascendance in order to get the actual feed back from the absconded employee, reason being by that time he might have settled down with some other job and may not scare much to reveal the facts.
Here with, i would like to spot light that, On boarding is some thing which cannot be delayed for 3/4 days of new employee joining. A little organization skills may help you for better way outs.

I would like to say that in future you try to get the offer letter signed from your selected candidate before he/she joins duty. If he/she resigned within 7 working days from your organisation, there would be any genuine reason and according to my experience as HR it is happening from the attitude of our present employees. If possible contact him/her and collect the reasons so you can come with a permanent solution. Take strict action against those who is behind this type of such attitude.
