I my self not using Facebook for any kind of recruitment up till now. But yes I agree that we can try for frontline vacancy because these kind of people will be more found on Facebook rather than Linkedin.
However I do recruitment through linkedin almost 80%. It is very useful. You can use Advance search for your criteria and search people through linkedin.
For Example: If I am looking for Business Development profile I will search for "Business Development" + "City name"
Now this will show the results of various industries you can search from it.
Other way you search from company name and designation.
Now a days people are updating their profile very soon. So you will find updated details of the candidates.
Send them connections first and then personalized message regarding your requirement. People will revert you or else provide references.

Facebook is only a social networking site. We cannot rely upon the Facebook for strategic requirements for recruitments. Recruiters must collect valid and accurate data through specific communications to the individuals directly rather than through Facebook or LinkedIn, and take appropriate action for selection of right minded persons to the right places on the critical analysis of the CV/Resumes sent by the applicants. Effective recruitment will only takes place if we apply this separate process.

Do make your company page in Face book.
Do join groups who are your target like unemployed, colleges, freshers etc.
do contribute your ideas through psot , forum etc.
do post your vacancies in FB and in all groups
try not to sell your self but educate people with your skill set.
don't over do people will not like it.
you will get results.

Facebook is actually the best way to recruit people. There are many videos available on facebook itself or on youtube which explains how you need to look for people through it. Especially in cases of specialised requirement, it is the best place to look for people. Do some research and you will find out how easy it is to recruit from Facebook. Alongwith recruiting you can also make out what kind of background the candidate comes from and what kind of groups they hang out with.
Dont look at it from one angle, but several angles. Then you will love recruiting from facebook.

As of now, our focus is not on " Social Sites "for recruitment....
For those who are finding it useful, are you finding a DIFFERENT set of data than against any Job portal ? AFAIK, Job portals perhaps more relevant data could be available such as Salary , immediate contact details etc...and much more search capabilities...
So, if any has any data on this - that the Resume's on the Social Sites such as Facebook ( and even LinkedIn ) are NOT available on the Job portals please comment in ....
It could also be due level - we work on Middle / Sr Level profiles while most postings I see on Facebook are for entrance levels/ close to that ...
in fact we have an ongoing Survey on this Subject at :
Effectiveness of Job Ads on "Social Media " like LinkedIn, FaceBook, Twitter etc.
and you are welcome to post in your thoughts also -last I checked, about 50 % respondents had NEVER applied to any job via any Social Site.... !

Well said.But, I have around 3000 connectors in linkedin, my case i never use to get related profiles. so looking out for your guidance and would like to know, whether you are getting profiles by paying or through your network..

I personally do not use Facebook as a recruitment tool. Like others have said, Facebook is used more for personal social networking purposes. But on occasions, I do use it on our company page and group.
Some of the reasons I do not use Facebook for recruitment:
- Facebook do not give much access to candidates' profiles and searching them is a big task. Unless you know the person, it is difficult to search specially if they use high privacy setting.
- Create a group/page or join a group/page which has a lot of professionals but then, posting jobs could become a 'nuisance' to the members and you could be banned for spam.
- Posting jobs in Facebook will get more 'likes' than profiles unless have a 1000+ friends list.
- Many companies block social networking sites specially Facebook and opening/requesting access to them is a hassle.

Although we get very few responses on Facebook when it comes to recruitment but I think its high time to start using Facebook for recruitment. For example, if we create a company page on FB, it will take time to get likes and make a reputation among the jobseekers. The usage of FB is limited in our country, which is going to increase manifold. So, my point is to get prepared for the future and start using facebook.
I would like to tell you that recently I sourced a candidate through FB which I could not do with a job portal database & Linkedin together.

FB is more to do with personal social networking. It would be a good platform for employer branding but for recruitment I would rather recommend you to use linkedin and jobboards. I am sure your company want to hire the best talent available in the market.
