One of the biggest problems that one will face while trying to find out what applies and what does not in the subject LABOUR (definitely with reference to Maharashtra - not sure about other states) is the lack of proper information on the Govt. / Department of Labour website. Whatever is found is mostly outdated. "Mahakamgar" which is supposed to be official website is far from being friendly and useful. One has to be highly tech savvy and has to have infinite patience to get something that is somewhat useful.
After a lot of effort, I came across the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act of 2017 and the Rules framed thereunder in 2018. What I found I now attach. May be someone will find it useful.
