As I know basically there are three types of prevail in any organisation in India. Earned Leave (Sometime called Previlage Leave / Paid Vacation), 2nd Sick Leave and 3rd Casual Leave. These are goverened largely by Internal company Policy based on each states Shop & Establishment act.
What I understand from your question is that in case if someone need Leave on Emergency ground then how it could be claimed. I would say this is largely depends on an organisation's internal policy.

Dear all
One of our employee took a leave for 25 days without informing HR.After 25 days we asked the reason to took the leave.He saying his grand ma expired.As employer can we ask the proof of death or any proof evidencing death ? actually he is denying producing such proof.
Please advice.
