hi,

I am worried about my husbands job... first of all let me give some details as to how it all started so that it gives better understanding of my situation

I am a Goan and my husband is from mumbai. we are currently residing in goa for the past 1 year on rent. my husband applied for a job in a BPO as a Sr. Tech Support and was hired looking at his past records and capabilities.

when he was hired he was given a letter of intent mentioning that he will get his offer letter after successfull completion of 1 month and that his working hours will be 9 hours. salary was also mentioned. no other information was given.

now my husband has been working for over 5 months and still no offer letter has been given to him inspite of several reminders to the management and the manager. every time they end up saying dont worry you will get it. at times they even say why are you crying for the offer letter just work.

on the contrary the management keeps changing their internal rules as per their wish and whims without any official letter or memo given to the employees including my husband. their working hours have been increased to 10 hrs without any OT. no PF,ESIC or other employee facilities given...1 day off is given randomly which they cancel if they decide to hold any management meeting on that day. no sick leaves or any other leaves applicable. even the state and national holidays are not followed nor compensated as per the labor law...and if any employee does not come to work without prior notice then 3 days salary is deducted and also they have to work extra 3 days without payment in lieu of the one days absence... my husband had applied for an emergency leave for a week and his salary got blocked for 2 months. there are a lot of discripancies in the salary slip. which the management does not give a duly reply.. they just end up saying ok if you did not get a days salary this time then wait for the next salary. my husband is frustated and so am I he is planning to leave the company without notice but the problem is that they the salary only after the 10th of the next month so he has to work for another 10 days to get his salary for this month and they will block his 10 days of work....

pls guide as to what needs to be done

thanks

It seems that you have posted 2 queries with the same content.
The remedy for your query is to approach the District Labor Officer and complain, but before hand it is advisable to search a new job.
The Labor Officer will take the employer on task if you have sufficient evidence for the complaint so made.

hi,
thanks for the reply
yes i did post 2 posts with similar contents as i wanted a reply as the situation was going out of hand and felt that my spouse was getting exploited by his employer. and not to mention the pain to see my spouse going into depression creating problems in our married life.... i am so grateful for your reply....
we will do as you say and we do have proof of whats happening in the company coz its not only my spouse but all other employees working with him who are facing similar issues.. but no one wanted to come forward coz of fear of loss of job or may be they did not know what to do...
not all people are aware of the labor laws and let themselves to be exploited by their employers
i am a professional myself and know the labor laws to some extent but did not know how to proceed or whom to contact.
thanks again...
i will keep this forum updated about this issue so that others are aware and come forward and speak about their issues
