Dear Choudary & Srilakshmi,
You guys have to understand that it is not the role and goal which you need to know. It is the KRA which you have to look for. Again don't you have a line manager or a senior person above you in HR department. If so he/she would be able to assign the KRA on to your task. Still with some specific doubts, feel free to message me...

Hi There,
You need to be more clear on the goals, is it that you are talking of your personal career goal or that of your goal for the position that you are currently holding.
If it is your personal goal, you chart a plan for yourself as how you want to progress in your career(your current role in a compnay would also play a major part in acheiving your personal goals.
If it is goals for your current position, then it has to flow from top, ideally your line manager or from your department goals and then you can look at what areas of expertise is expeceted out of you and align your performance accordingly....
I know this is a very short way of explaining it, but to know more you should be clear on what you are looking at.

First thing you should remember is a HR person is for employees. Don’t act like becuase of you employees are there. It is other way. If no employees then no HR needed.

Hi there,
HR person is for employees - wow i didnt know that, thanks a ton..
You are kind of saying something agains the definition of HR, let me give you a simple and basis class........
HR refers to Human Resource Management, its about managing the Human Capital of an organization, for which an HR department is a specialized function that provides consulting to the line managers in managing the their teams, yes the HR department does offer other services such as emp relations and greivance handling, which are to act as a third party between the line managers and the employees.
Please answer, why shouldnt an HR think about his/ her career goals, even they are employees. HR folks work for the Organization which comprises of management, line managers and the employees - They are not just focused on employees. Employee Relations and Employee Development are just two thier functions.

Vivek
