Dear Ajay,
There is nothing like "modern" and "old" techniques of the training on communication skills. There is no break up as such.
Games and presentations is one of the means of training. There are a few other methods as well. The objective of communication is to avoid communication gaps. The communication gaps lead to loss of time and also resources.
I recommend you studying the operations of your company and identifying the instances of non-communication and how it created the problems. These customised case studies will help the participants understand the actual problems your company is facing.
Thanks,

Thanks Mr. Dinesh, for your valuable reply. I found communication gaps in operations, and to fill those gaps, please suggest with some training or games which will result in good teaching to the employees with great fun.

Dear Ajay,
Go to Google and find out (a) Principles of Communication and (b) Barriers in communication.
Thereafter, interact with the managers working in the Operations Department and the departments that support operations. Note down the cases of non-communication or communication gaps.
While conducting the training discuss these cases and give an exercise to the participants to relate the cases (told by the managers) to the principles of communication and barriers in communication. This exercise will sensitize the participants.
Later tell the participants to come up with their own incidents of communication gaps. However, they are not to reveal the cause(s) of the gap. The other participants are to do it. This exercise will bolster their communication attitude.
Please note that the objective of training on communication skills to improve the communicativeness of the participants. Communication is a matter of mindset or attitude. The objective of the training to create the right attitude.
The games and presentations may not build the right attitude. I say so with my 20 years of experience into the training. Most of the HR professionals live in their world of assumptions. They do not take accountability for the measurement of the ROI on the training. Hence their unwanted or misplaced belief on the games and presentations.
Thanks,
