Human resource is a huge area and I suppose there is no end to learning in this field. The various types of business needs have various types of HR issues.Common to all is how one being a manager is able to create an environment for sustainance of employees,How good the manager is as a human being in understanding the people and their expectations and on the other hand how he ensures profit to employer by leading the best of Human resource team.
This will call for an indepth knowledge of all applicable laws in hr industry. Strong relationship making and sustaining quality.communication and problem solving capacity by using best of co ordination and creative skills.
People are good,so is the company, only good or bad is either the boss or manager..So lead as leader and not as boss.

Hr is not a calculated field, we may have plenty of readily available materials, books in the market to learn the basics of HR like Recruitment, Selection, Placement, Training, PMS, Compliance etc etc.......... all these activities are one part of HRD. The major requirement is the person should have leadership qualities to take a lead of the total team to achieve organizational goals and objectives. He should able to read under the lines, whoever comes for problems, complaints, work related grievances he should handle diplomatically that the person should satisfied. Out of regular HR work the HR person has to concentrate on how we could develop work culture of organization and 100% engaging employees (right sizing of manpower) to achieve organizations goal. This will not teach or learned in our academic education. But surely we may develop the things by analytical observations on the incidences happened in industrial sector, we may develop ourselves by self coaching.

I would like to share my experience of 20 + in the field of HR. When I was joined as a junior in big company having 3000 workforce, the company was trapped in financial crunch, since in our nation the political influences plays major role on industrial sector, due to change in ruling party/Govt the company has not get long term loans subsequently that company became political platform gradually the company declare closure. We tried our level best for survival of that company but all efforts went in vain. What i learned here that, during the period of financial crunch, the HR should focus on employee relationship to maintain continuous productions of the company being hope that, we may come out of financial crunch. This experience is benefited me in other company where due to financial problems the management could not able to pay regular wages, it was delayed for 3-4 months, in spite of such situation, i was able to drive the unit by keeping productions intact, without paying regular wages, the wages were delayed by for 3-4 months and the situation was for more than 2 years. All the workers taken into confidence because of which the company's production activities were not disturbed exceptionally only 2-3 times workers were resorted strike for 1-2 days for wages but they extending support to management. Now this company came out of financial problem and we are paying wages regularly. Like that, i had worked in 3 companies were financial situation were very bad but the companies are survived except first one.
The another lesson widely know to all HR people about the critical situation faced by the HR team of Suzuki at Manesar plant Gurgaon. The workers were set fire the company offices and violently beaten to officers wherein 2-3 officers has lost their lives including Manager HR.
I had attended one seminar organized by the Labour Commissioner, the title was "What went wrong at Suzuki Manesar Plan" I impressed by this seminar, really the incidence was very shocking, what was went wrong by the management, had they failed to maintain harmonious employee relations or negligence in attaining proper care of the union activities ? Such type of incidences are happening in industrial sector, we need to see the causes and learn lesson.

Hi Prashant,
First of all remember that HR can never play tricks! HR Manager is usually a bridge between the workforce and the Management. A good HR Manager must be seen as a fair and just person and not biased towards the Management.
To be a good HR Manager please learn to respect your junior employees and go out of the way to be of help to them.
Remember when you give respect you gain respect.
"The more one gives...the more one receives" is a good lesson to remember while working inn HR.
Thank you,
