I have travelled from Mumbai to Bengaluru and adjoining areas on my self-driven car. Can I claim LTC for the same. If so, how do I do that.

Dear ANNONYMOUS Friend,
LTC claim is not as per any statute but it is as per your company's policy and rules & regulations thereunder. So this forum can not tell you any thing on your company's policy.
However, LTC claimed by you, you are entitled to have I. Tax exemption under it twice in the block of four years subject to certain conditions & rules. You need to produce bills on your travel expenses as under:
If you travel through air, an economy class fare of the Airlines is allowed as an exemption.
If you does not travel through air and the places are connected through rail, AC First Class Rail fare is granted as an exemption.
If you does not travel by rail or air and the places are also not connected by rail or air,
where recognised mode of transport is available, First or Deluxe Class fare of such transport is allowed as an exemption.
Where recognised form of transportation is not available, an amount equal to the AC First Class Rail fare (the distance of the shortest route is considered) is allowed as an exemption.
Under the circumstances you are not entitled for I.Tax exemption on your travel from Mumbai to Bengaluru and adjoining areas by your self-driven car.

Most govts have stopped LTC by private cars for employees due to fraudulent claims etc.
If you are a Govt/PSU employee check out your LTC rules.
As far as Private companies are concerned,it varies from firm to firm.

Dear Friend,
The claim of LTC does not fall under any act and laws rather by the policy of the establishment.
As per your clarification you better check with your HR. They will let you know the how do they reimburse the amount of your entitilment.
The LTC policy is different in every establishment. My establishment paying me my share of LTC in monthly salary now. Earlier paid yearly against 5 earned leave.
