Hi All,
I have a query, some years back i had an offer from reputed MNC, however i was not able to join them on the stipulated joining date due to medical emergency and then i didn't join them at all. Will this effect my background check?, however i remember that just before my joining they had created my personnel records in the system. I am not sure how to handle this situation.

It is not likely to affect your background check as you did not join them. Personal records of all employees selected to join are created, earlier it was maintained in hard copy and now in soft copy. After joining date is over, the records of all who did not join are consigned to old records. It is not likely to be referred back but certain organisations specify that those who had applied against previous advertisement need not apply. That being not the case, you need not entertain any apprehension on this count.

Dear Amit:
The back-ground status check by the ex-prospective-employer will in no way affect your profile. BUT do make it a point that if you are unable to report for joining on a given date, make it known to the employer well in advance (with some valid documents, if needed) of your inability to so. Further, if you decide, not to take-up the job offer, again inform the organization with a courteous polite note, maybe adding the reason why you refused the offer.

Dear Amit,
I agree with opinion of Mr KK & Mr Nathrao.
At the same time this can not be ruled out that interviewer may recognise you. To tackle the situation you should remain ready with a positive reply, why you did not join on last ocassion even though considered for the post.

Dear Friend,
You have not done anything illegal, immoral, unethical & incorrect, it was perfectly within your authority to join that company or not. By not joining that company you exercised your right to choose your employment. T.his does not form part of your professional back ground
Back ground verification happens of the professional background and also some times personal back ground, if your personal record is clean, you do not have to worry about anything and enjoy your life.
Warm Regards
