I have recently joined a company as an Senior Executive HR, initial few days were awesome but fast few weeks are getting very ugly day by day.
Employees here are quiet rude and take HR for granted. I am very polite to them but often get rude responses. Once a work given to an admin executive was not done and on being asked I got very rude response. I escalated the same to my boss he agreed but now things have changed. They have secluded me like not asking me for tea or going together for a break. Even my boss has reduced his interaction with me.
Initially I had lot of quality work to do and I have been doing things quiet well. But now I am not included in any important decision and they are searching Assistant Manager HR. I was told new hire will be my new boss. I have a jolly nature I am trying my best to be normal but that admin executive has turned others against me and I am getting very cold and rude responses . I really don't know how to handle this immature behaviour.

The type of industry and the work setting of the poster is not known. In some organizations, the top management treat the line functions as more important and the staff functions as just a supplementation. In such a set up, implementation of reformative steps by a new comer particularly when he belongs to the staff can not be done overnight because the comforts of the status quo would initially resist any change that is quick and immediate. The quality of a work environment has a greater influence on the attitude and behaviour of the employees for employees as a whole are a closed social group.
As a HR manager new to the organization, you have to first understand this. Amidst a situation of tight work schedule and simultaneous reporting to more than one superior, naturally any one would falter in the niceties of his response when sharply questioned about his certain omission. In stead of sorting out this yourself patiently, when you took this matter immediately to your boss his reaction seems to be very diplomatic i.e merely recognizing your right to complaint without advising you to sparingly use it and at the same time probably informing the particular employee to ignore this and go ahead with his work as usual. That is discernible from the way you are isolated by all subsequently. A manager should be very sensible and not too sensitive and withdraw himself into mental isolation in such a situation of social boy-cot. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Change of job will not be useful as the situation will be the same everywhere unless you change your attitude and responses according to people and situations.

Thanks I will surely keep it in my mind. I am in an IT firm and atmosphere is quiet open. I am actually dealing in a diplomatic manner now and just focusing on my work . I am not discussing it with anyone and keeping my interaction normal. I hope with time things would sort out.

How long has the admin executive been in the company?
What type of interaction have you noticed of this person with others?
New comers have to first observe, interact and then only try to make changes.
Keep moving around as required, interact with people and doing work proactively.People who interact directly will then come to know of you as a person and as HR person also,Views will change.
When older staff(HR executive) speaks bad about about newer staff, people who know him earlier will tend to believe him first, but with you going around and interacting, things will change.
Changes are always resented initially, but when people see advantages accruing, then things change.
The way people treat you, some message is being given.
Try to analyse.
Kind of introspection can be done, because you are new and so fast they decided to hire an Asst manager just above you and putting one more ste in the ladder before you reach manager.
Try and remain diplomatic and avoid any sort of disagreement to the extent possible.
Probably people have to develop faith and understand you better. But the reactions are little too hard with you and only you can know whether there is any specific reason as they were ok initially.

Well my boss is a Finance guy but he takes care of HR/Admin and Finance , he said he doesn't get enough time to guide me so he would change my reporting manager. There are few people who have sort of monopoly here and I have observed lot of personal relationships here being given more importance than work. For now I am keeping quiet as changing jobs frequently will not be a good option for my career.
