Can University staff & Lecturers put under muster of Labour contractor ? As some Institutes try to skip to pay Wages fixed as per University norms.
University norms have to be complied even if the staff & lecturers are engaged through contractor.

Dear Maheshwari,
More inputs are needed for a University is covered by the norms of various regulatory bodies such as UGC, AITEC, MCI etc. Whether it is a State University, Private University or a Deemed University? That apart, already, the established legal position is that though education is an industry, teacher is not a workman. Therefore, you can not agitate against the issue of engagement of teaching staff through contractors. If the conditions of their employment such as salary, leave benefits etc., are less than the norms fixed by the concerned regulatory authority, you have to make a complaint to such authority only.
