Hi Santosh here, my wife works as an HR and as per new rules she has contribution towards ESIC from April 2017 and registered in May 2017, her due date is jan 20th 2018. Her current salary is 21000, we are taking treatment in PVT hospital and planned to go ahead with same hospital for delivery as well.
In that case will she be eligible for maternity benefit under ESIC, if yes how much per month will they reimburse medical claim as well or only 26 weeks of leave with how much claims.
Regards, Santosh

Hi Santosh,
For maternity benefit employee has to make a Payment of contribution for 70 days in immediately proceeding one or two consecutive contribution periods.
So as your wife is covered from April 2017, she will definitely be entitled for the benefit of maternity leave for 26 weeks with 100% of daily average wages. Please reach your ESI hospital with the card she has got for ESI registration and start taking treatment. The doctor will prescribe when the leaves be required and issue her the entitlement slip

Maternity benefit is expressed as maternity leave & medical bonus put together. Now if you take treatment in pvt hospital without the intimation or permission of ESI authorities you will not get any money for hospitalisaion expenses.
