Hello Everyone,
I am working as a HR Executive with a private limited IT Company. I joined this company just 3 months but now I am sick of this place. People over here are so lethargic, I don't understand how the company is functioning (I strongly doubt there is something fishy in the revenue generation of this company). I was hired with the responsibilities including 60-70% recruitment and 30-40% of other HR activities but till now I am just doing recruitment for the company, that's it and nothing else. I am here for past 3 months but you won't believe that barely people know me, because my HR Manager never introduced me to anyone over here plus she restricts me if I try to socialize in office.
At first, I was told that they have a strength of 147 employees and now I have realized that they just have 123 head counts. Every month they hire 2 to 3 people and will terminate 4 to 5 employees. The work culture is really pathetic, intolerable and uncultured. I cannot stand by this company even for a day more.
I am wondering if I can leave the company without serving notice period, on the grounds of unsatisfied with the employment. But if I will sent them the resignation saying that I cannot serve the notice, they will reject my resignation and terminate me immediately. What should I do?? Please advice!
Thanks!

Dear friend,
Well gentleman, you appear to be at your wits end by working in your company. You feel that your manager is blocking your growth.
You have written that "At first, I was told that they have a strength of 147 employees and now I have realized that they just have 123 head counts. Every month they hire 2 to 3 people and will terminate 4 to 5 employees."
How does it matter if the employee count was less by 24 persons than what was told to you. The difference is not that great to get frustrated!
Going further, you have written that "The work culture is really pathetic, intolerable and uncultured." Why you feel so that you would know best. Many Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are known for having degraded work culture. It is fait accompli. Therefore, why not to have truce with the destiny in the interest of one's career?
You have asked question about abandonment of your employment. But then it depends on the terms of employment mentioned in the appointment letter.
Before quitting, try for getting salary advance for the days of the month for which you had worked!
Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar

"There is a solution to every human problem"
I recommend never quit your job without proper notice. Also wait..
First of all, do not take impulsive decisions like 'shall I quit', 'this is a shit organisation', 'i can't stay here anymore' etc.
(Un)Fortunately you are in a country, where HR primarily known as resource supplier, intellectually lazy, rule book, party coordinator, grievance officer etc. Certainly there are organizations managed with visionary leaders and excellent people practices but majority fall in to the other segment.
However HR is still a hot job and an interesting function (with good pay as well, according to glassdoor, average salary of an entry level HR Professional in India is 5.75 Lakhs)
So keep the cool and now think, understand, and write down
- the current problem (s)
- solutions available
In case, you are unable to find a solution, just raise a ticket and a specialist will help you

Hi,
Please understand, abandonment from job is never been a solution and company has full rights to deny to accept your resignation without notice period. Also, if you really feel to leave the company then you may serve notice period or pay in lieu of it. As I believe both options are available in your appointment letter as in many it does. The reason which you specified above are not really provide you ground to prove the unsatisfied working ground. Headcount which was specified to you before joining what correlation it has with non satisfying work culture as the gap is not so big to all for. Other than that, If your boss is not ready for you to get socialise that may be had some reason which you can check with him/her and anyways socialization can be done after working hours which no one can object and not in office.

Dear Young (angry) Man:
The first employment principle - never speak ill about your company . Two, if what you say is true, give them the due notice of bidding adieu, then as soon as you find an alternate opening, quit.
Now scanning you story: "The work culture is really pathetic, intolerable and uncultured." We will really have to delve into what 'pathetic, intolerable & uncultured' mean. To you, obviously they are an eye-sore, but looking at them from the company's perspective we may be on totally a different frequency. The reasons needs be understood, and your blame game must end.
Something 'fishy'! if you really can't concertize this perception, then there is again something wrong in the equation. This company is not for you!
Again a few question marks! Your HR manager doesn't allow you to socialize, right? Have you given her a reason to believe, that if you socialize you'd be creating some sort of a negative / unacceptable work environment for others.
Take a good look at yourself, my young friend: professional ethics, the profession and the ethics, are all very important.Your career trajectory will advance reasonably fast, if you have these three skills by your side, at all times

Dear Annonymous,
I agree with the posts made by our learned friends that your problems are not so serious.Getting demotivated from the work can happen to anybody, but you are just a starter with three months experience.
Even other wise problems do exist at all places and you have to overcome them.
Treat the workplace as worshiping place and you will feel everything in place and proper.

Dear Friend,
Nothing is happening as you dreamt of on joining the job, which has made you mentally sick and decided to quit the job.
Quiting job is your own decission and is nothing from the side of management. Friend, when someone is not ease with things around him better to leave and stay happy. Do not take a call at once. If, possible search for a job, when it is in track serve notice to leave job. Do not dream as per text.

Hello,
Many company has this kind of culture.
I suggest you to stay here for few months more and finish 1 year.
Other things:
- Mostly small to medium IT company is terminating and hiring 2-3 employees in an average a month.
- About environment: Because of this termination business it is very obvious.
- About your restriction to employees: Generally it is advisable to a HR professional to keep a distance from employees so they can take strict and fair decision when time comes and situation needs.
You are young and just joined so thats' why your HR manager is giving you advice. Bear with it for sometime. You will learn many things, just be patient.
Wish you good luck!

Dear Anonymous,
Firstly never ever talk ill about your company. You mentioned "People over here are so lethargic" why don't you come up with some games which you can play on every weekend for half an hour or plan for some activities which might boost them up. Little difference in the head count doesn't matter. Try to come up with some good ideas and initiatives and present it to your manager. You have a good opportunity to grow in this company. If in case you have nothing to do read articles related to HR and ensure to keep yourself engaged. If you still feel that this company is pathetic, intolerable and uncultured then my dear friend kindly change your job and start hunting for a new one. You cannot be a performer if there is no job satisfaction.
- Please leave by serving a proper notice period instead of getting terminated. Leave the company in good terms.
All the Best!!
