Dear Member,

Pls note if the excess TDS has been deducted for the year 2016-17, than only the individual can claim the “Refund” in the Income Tax Return of the F.Y. But first you have to check whether it is refundable or not. If the deducted TDS is correct as per your Income and applicable taxes than no refund can be claimed.

Pls note the clarification of your points:-

I. Employee may get claim the excess deducted TDS by filling the Income Tax Return.

II. The refund can be claimed thru IT Return (no need to approach anywhere, you can file online Return).

III. The last date for filling IT Return (in case of individual) is generally 31st Jul. You can file return prior to that.

IV. The Refund will be credited to your Bank account (as provided by you in the Return). Generally the refund is credited within 02 months after filling the online Return.

V. No document required. Your employer will issue Form 16 (TDS deduction detail). You have to furnish the detail in the respective place provided in the Return.

Still once more I would like to clear, merely TDS dedcution is not any entitlement for Refund. If the excess TDS deducted (over and above of applicable TDS) than only refund can be claimed. For more specific clarification, pls share your data on the matter.

Fellow members can correct me.
