I am working in a manufacturing company (Staff of 40 employees)... We celebrate birthdays in month end by gifts distribution and having a small party in office.
But now its becoming monotonous, I am thinking to add some motivational, team building games... So, seniors please suggest what games we can play or some more interesting ideas ........
Regards,
Priyanka

A birthday is a significant event for the employee. (S)he should be the center of attention. Having said that, I would suggest something like:
For employees with 15+ years of service: Historical background of the company when you were hired - how and in what way has it changed.
For employees with 5-10 years of service: Describe your first day - your supervisor, your work station, your co-workers (who left and who are still here.)
For employees with less than 5 years of service: What is your background and how did you decide to work here.
Other options:
Have a whiteboard available so that the participants can write congratulatory comments to be kept up until the next party.
Have a discussion on the topic of (a) What positive attributes have been developed up to this point in your life (birthday person.), and (b) What attributes did you have (beyond birthday person's age)/ focusing on (younger than birthday person.)
Discuss: What, I hope, the future holds for me and the path I intend to take to make it come true.

Here are some team building games you can try in your organisation: Game of Possibilities. Winner/Loser. Purpose Mingle. Scavenger Hunt. Human Knot. The Perfect Square. The Mine Field. The Egg Drop.

Hi,
At Demag here, I conduct monthly birthdays and tagged to this celebration are small fun games like musical chair, simple puzzles, minute to win it kind of games, antakshari in a different style, balloon games, etc. We make cross functional teams participate and reward winners or team with chocolates.
We measure participation by monitoring attendance every month. We measure employee satisfaction by distributing paper smileys (sad and happy) at the beginning of the event. Employees are instructed to leave a happy smiley if they enjoyed the event or a sad smiley if they did not.
Our monthly rewards are also associated with the monthly celebration where exemplary accomplishments are rewarded by distributing citations. We ensure that atleast 1 or 2 functional heads attend the celebration every month. Pictures are taken and uploaded on the HR picture gallery regularly for employees to view it.
We print and display bday cards for employees to sign them. We order a cake, play music to lighten up the overall event.
