Hi Everyone, I work as an HR with an IT company and I wanted to know if HR should send a pre Birthday wishes email to an employee who is having a birthday on weekend. Please suggest.

You could send a personalized email on that day or schedule it to happen one day before or belated one on the next working day. If you have any HR Self Service portal, set up these reminders there and the system based on the date of birth recorded in the system will take care of SMS or Email.

Dear Neeti,

Send the email greetings exactly on the date of birth is important. If the birthday falls on the weekend and since you will be out of the office on that day if you send the greetings in advance, the recipient may perceive it as a perfunctory activity. It will not have a personal touch.

To ensure that the greeting email is sent exactly on the date of birth, you can use the "send later" function or "schedule email" function of MS Outlook. To know how to do that, you may click here.

A similar facility exists even in Gmail also. To know how to do it, you may click here.

Thanks,
