I'm bit confused here since there are many candidates to whom I gave call and sent interview call letter for the vacancy listed out in my company. But right on the day of interview, when I call them for confirmation about their interview visit, most of them answers "No" and give out some stupid reasons.. I just don't know why does it happen so and what should I do to overcome this situation and make my recruitment run smoother..?

I don't know clearly your process so I can't give you the reason why here. Some things you should reconsider:
- Are your candidates active or passive?
- Is your job description clear and attractive enough?
- How do you call/email them for confirmation? You should get confirmation a day before the day of interview.
- Is your company/employer brand is strong?
- How about candidate experience?
Hope this helps.

As a recruiter, you need to understand as to how the employment market is trending. In a seller's market, the seller lays down the rules and the buyer has to take what the seller offers and at the price he quotes. However the current employment market seems to give a little leverage to customers also(employees) in that they too have a choice in view of many small and medium sized enterprises and start ups coming up and choose to join the organisations that fit their bill. Therefore you need to ask them also as to what they are looking for in their job while inquiring about their job fit. so that you will get an idea whether the candidate is likely to respond to an interview call.
