Samhere
Hi,
I have quit my job as a MANAGER-HR in an insurance firm couple of years ago, as I was in the family way. Have been free lancing in HR RECRUITMENT ever since. I very desperately want to get back to work as my passion lies there. The problem lies here- my baby is just 20months old. Baby needs my attention most of the time, as I cannot trust domestic helps when im not around.
A few of my ex-bosses /well wishers have suggested I should get into a partnership business by starting my own consultancy which will sort out both the problems of handling the child & also living my passion. I'm not able to take a decision on whether to take up a corporate job or plunge into starting my own venture.
I'm sure most of you here, have gone through this phase in life or have seen & known people who went through this typical phase after having a baby, trying to figure out where the priority lies. Would really appreciate all your suggestions.
Thank You!
Regards
Sam

Samhere: I haven't gone through this phase ! But I strongly recommend starting your own venture. A venture isn't scary, not when you realize an employment is uncertain in today's times.
Having said that, your own venture will give you the needed flexibility of learning, earning and keeping fruitfully occupied. Additionally, one of your clients can make you an offer or you could talk to your client for a full time role when you are ready to begin.
The venture doesn't need to be in recruitment only. You can explore other facets of HR. Look at PlugHR - I understand they are seeking part-timers / flexi-timers to join them.
Hope this helps.

Dear Sam,
Before taking decision, it is always important to list out the options. You have four options. These are as below:
a) Continue as freelance recruiter
b) Get into full-time job
c) Start your own recruitment venture
d) Continue as freelancer but sell something in addition to the recruitment services
Call me on my mobile if you wish to exercise option (d).
Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar
