Hi I have resigned from my current job as a software engineer in a reputed IT firm but I don't have any other job at hand. Resignation was imminent as there was no growth here and shifts are not scheduled as per company policy and when I have raised the concern to HR then my manager is threatening to terminate me. now I am serving notice period of 2 months. I would like to know that if I don't get a job in these 2 months then will other employers reject me for a gap in employment. would would be a safe period within which to secure another job so as to avoid my resume being rejected at other firms?

I am a software engineer and you should get a job within 2 months. Even if you do not get a job, no company can reject you if you have a gap of a month or two or even an year or two. Don't worry, just concentrate on interviews you must get a good job in 2 months.
IT market is on boom at this moment of time.

Dear Deepak
I can understand your concern about if not getting job with in notice period what will happen ?
Relax buddy Nothing will happen. No company in India can reject you on the basis of your gap...
There could be hundred of reason behind the gap and it is not possible for stating every reason.
So enjoy your notice period and start your expedition of job hunting with full force....
If you feel you are capable enough, you will definitely get a job....
Drop me a personal message, Let see if i can do something
Warm regards

Dear Deepak,

I fully endorse what Deepa Bhatia and Ashish have said.

Getting a job within the stipulated "notice period" time just ensures you get a job to rest your anxiety and you are in a bargain-able mode. The other aspect is your convenience of location and in the area of technical expertise. You've not mentioned the number of years of experience you carry, however, keep all your options open and also keep yourself open to migration. Places like Pune, Chennai and Bangalore, have several openings. Anil Nagpal, has posted a contact, I believe you should pursue that as well.

Have a nice resume made and get it circulated.

I am doing what William Barclay said, "One of the highest of human duties is the duty of encouragement. It is easy to laugh at men's ideals; it is easy to pour cold water on their enthusiasm; it is easy to discourage others. The world is full of discouragers. We have a duty to encourage one another. Many a time a word of praise or thanks or appreciation or cheer has kept a man on his feet."

People's beliefs about their abilities have a profound effect upon abilities. Ability is not a fixed property; there is a huge variability in how you perform. People who have a sense of self-efficacy bounce back from failure; they approach things in terms of how to handle them rather than worrying about what can go wrong. When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt. People are not to be judged by their looks, habits and appearances; but by the character of their lives and conversations, and by their works. Prepare yourself well for the interviews that will come around. Do not be hairy-fairy about the technical stuff. Brush your fundamentals up.

Be Patient, But Proactive and Rock in Your Interviews. Best wishes. Be in touch and please do let this community know what's happening with you.

I was engaged in a construction company (shapoorji pallonji & co ltd ) for IISCO modernization project in burnpur, west bengal and worked there as an associate for the abovementioned company under unidus management &'consultancy services, kolkata under temporary payroll .I was working there as an admin assistant providing back office support & operations, staff welfare, facility management etc. But after 3 years they had given me final after settling all my dues. Till now I am trying my best to secure a job that suits my profile but I am not getting any positive response from anywhere. Pl note that I worked there from dec 2008 to jan 2012.I am really frustrated now and is concerned about my rejection of cv due to long gap. Although I uploaded my cv in various job portals but everybody is asking for updated resume. I cannot tell lie and manipulate my cv as the interviewer may ask tricky question if i lie. Pl help and advise . I am at a loss now and is very worried.
