Hello Friends,
I am Makrand. I work as a software engineer since last 2 years in a small company in India. Recently I got selected in one of the software company in Bangalore. I just received an email demanding bank statement of my salary account for entire work period in the current company. However, I am paid cash salary by my current employer as it's a start up company. Also, salary is not under taxation (Rs.15k). I don't know what should I do now. Should I clearly tell the demanding company that I am paid salary by cash ? What is the logic behind asking bank statement ? Aren't they sneaking into my bank account which is supposed to be personal ? Please enlighten me. I would really appreciate your guidance.
Thanks,
Makrand

Thanks Jignesh.... but I don't understand how should I put these things in words. I mean this is very uncomfortable situation for me. During my three interviews, I wasn't asked about this and suddenly they are asking me to show bank statement. And now when they have asked me about bank statement, I would say that I am paid by cash, so isn't it look very embarrassing. I have already submitted my last three month salary slip. Can u please suggest me a way to approach the company HR or Manager in the recruitment team.

Dear Makrand,
We are also convinced with Jignesh, they are demanding your Bank Statement for the purpose of cross verifying that "what amount is getting tranfered in to your account on the monthly basis" or if there is any variation in the Salary paid or not , or to know your longevity with the company.
Furthermore, Makrand you should not hesitate in disclosing the truth that you have been provided your salary through cash. Infact, if payment option is mentioned as cash then it will solve your purpose.
otherwise, share with the HR of company, they may provide you another alternate.

Thanks both of you, Jignesh & Rach. That meant a lot to me. I have talked to my HR about my predicament. My HR told me to tell them straight about my mode of payment, if the company ask about that. Also, my salary slip doesn't show the mode of payment so in case company wants to confirm anything regarding my employment or CTC, it can talk to my HR. However, My HR told me that they rarely tell about the CTC to any verifying entity. I hope this would not be a problem. Moreover, my company doesn't have any PF thing.

You should ask your current company to give you salary statment. If they ask you y do u need it and dont know abt ur job hunting u should tell them that ur planning to apply for a loan and u need it.It wil be given by ur HR in letter head so the other comapny will be ok with it.Dont hesitate about telling them the payment mode coz small companies normally pay in cash this is just to avoid to many tax liabilities.

The salary statment would be your annual salary break up u can also ask for monthly break up some companies will give it.It will also include ur variable salary(performance incentives) if you have any.The hr will have the normal format just ask them for it.

[QUOTE=jiguparmar;1217915]The Logic behind the asking Bank statement is to verify the salary provided by your past comany..Normally Good company submites the employees salary on his/her bank account. Some people tell his/her salary more than actual salary when he/she give interview and also provide fack salry slip also so it is easy tool to verify employees salary by his/her banks statement.
If you have not still clear your payment type (Bank/Cash) than tell them you have given salary by cash not by bank account.
Hi Jignesh,
My problems is ,Initially i started my career in a small company as a software engineer with a salary of 8,000 .They provided my salary through Bearer cheque of south Indian bank , so i have to submit the cheque in that particular branch of bank where the company is having account. Then from bank they will provide me the cash. like this i worked for 2 years and then i have joined in CMC LTD, they have done all kind of Background verification and cleared. so i worked there for past one year as a contract employee, now while i attending Interview in CTS,Wipro they are asking the Bank statement of first company.......
so please help me in this i dont have bank statement,...what can i do....I want to join in CTS or wipro...or TCS..But due to this problem i unable to join..
